Data grows faster than our ability to process it, artificial intelligence offers a concrete promise: to simplify what’s complex. But what happens when that promise must adapt to an international organization—present in more than 60 countries—with a mission as profound as educating for peace?

That was the question we explored with CISV International, a global organization dedicated to developing young leaders and building intercultural understanding.

Beyond technology, this project had a greater purpose: to democratize access to institutional knowledge, improve efficiency, and maintain privacy as a core value.

The Challenge: Dispersed Knowledge, Slower Decisions

CISV International operates through globally distributed teams, multiple languages, and an enormous volume of internal documentation—policies, reports, procedures, forms, evaluations.

All this vital information was available, but fragmented. Teams spent valuable time manually searching folders or consulting colleagues to locate key documents.

This kind of friction is common in international organizations: information exists but doesn’t flow efficiently.

The challenge was clear: How can we build a knowledge access system that’s as human as it is efficient—and as secure as it is scalable?

The Solution: AI Assistants Designed to Understand, Not Just Respond

Our approach was to develop two specialized AI assistants, designed with precision and privacy as guiding principles.

  • Assistant 1: Intelligent Queries on Policies and Procedures
    Allows any team member to ask questions in natural language—as if speaking with a colleague—and receive clear, accurate answers in seconds.
    What once required navigating dozens of documents now takes a single query.

  • Assistant 2: Automated Analysis of Internal Reports
    Processes information and documents to detect patterns, evaluate performance, and support data-driven decisions—bridging the gap between raw data and applied intelligence.

Both assistants were built with encryption and secure data management, ensuring complete confidentiality and full compliance with CISV International’s privacy policies.
Security wasn’t an afterthought—it was the foundation of the design.

Results and Impact: Efficiency, Shared Knowledge, and Trust

The collaboration delivered measurable results across three levels of impact:

  • Operational Efficiency: Information search time was reduced from minutes—or even hours—to seconds.
    AI now acts as an internal assistant always available, understanding context and delivering accurate answers instantly.

  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Teams can now identify trends and patterns that previously went unnoticed, enabling more strategic and evidence-based decisions.

  • Shared Knowledge: Information is no longer fragmented or dependent on specific roles—it becomes an accessible, secure resource for the entire organization.

This balance between efficiency, security, and accessibility redefines what it means to digitalize an organization with purpose.

Privacy and Ethics: Innovating Without Compromising Trust

In the words of Jacob Przeklasa, Programmes and Operations Lead at CISV International:

“Maintaining the confidentiality of our datasets was an important factor for us.
The Lumen team provided the security we needed when configuring the Assistants, giving us full confidence in the proper protection of our information.”

This statement captures a central idea: real innovation happens when technology is built on trust.

In an era where many organizations hesitate to entrust sensitive information to AI systems, this project demonstrates that it can be done safely.

Data protection wasn’t an added layer—it was a design principle.
Each assistant was configured under strict encryption and secure storage protocols, ensuring that shared knowledge never compromises privacy.

The Human Dimension of AI

The CISV International case represents a new way of understanding artificial intelligence: As a companion technology—one that amplifies human capabilities and frees time for more meaningful work.

In this sense, AI assistants become facilitators of collective intelligence: They don’t replace human judgment; they enhance it.
